Visit a Clicks clinic in the Western Cape for free vaccines for children
|Clicks has partnered with the Department of Health of the Western Cape to administer free government supplied vaccines to children younger than 12 years. Discovery Health Medical Scheme members have the opportunity to take children to any Clicks clinic in the Western Cape (call 0860 254 257 to make an appointment) to get the vaccines on the National Expanded Programme for free.
The vaccines the Department of Health will cover (as part of the National Expanded Programme on Immunisation in South Africa) for children younger than 12 years are listed in the childhood vaccination schedule.
The government supplies the vaccines for free, but you will have to pay Clicks R75 for administering the vaccine (this fee is expected to increase during the year). As a member of Discovery Health Medical Scheme, you can claim it from your available day-to-day benefits by submitting a claim. Scheme benefits cover the first R33.40 from your MSA, subject to available funds.
Vaccines that are not part of the National Expanded Programme on Immunisation will not be free, members can claim these costs from the medical scheme or pay cash.
