Learning and development overview

Human Resources Development coordinates and facilitates staff development initiatives at UCT. This includes the provision of an on-campus annual learning and development programme: The Staff learning programme.

The UCT Staff learning programme has been designed to build the capabilities, skills and knowledge of all UCT staff. The programme is informed by feedback from and participation in previous years, as well as common and generic needs identified in the Workplace Skills Plan; which are in turn informed by Personal Development Plans.

The unit ensures compliance with skills development legislation through a number of activities including the submittal of an Annual Training Report and Workplace Skills Plan reports to the ETDP SETA and the housing of the Skills Development Facilitator.

Human Resources Development is one of many 'centres of learning' at UCT. Other centres, such as CHED, ICTS, the Research Office, Health and Safety provide other learning and development opportunities.
